Call of Cthulhu recap
Every sunday I run a Call of Cthulhu game and it is great. My players are fun and I'm really enjoying the module I chose. I'm getting back into the rhythm of GMing, so sometimes there's a glitch but I try to listen when a player seems to be having an issue.
Today's session was the best.
The session before, a character died. There was already a rule in place that gave the bereaved player a new character immediately. But it was near the end of the session, so that meant today's game would be the fallout.
My players, even though the victim had died via a glowing light (The module is Of Angels and Bones, btw) and was mostly unidentifiable, decided they had to hide the body. I didn't say anything. I'm the gm, I just set the scene, I don't give advice.
They started rolling a sequence of ones.
They ended up at the cemetery trying to put the body inside a mausoleum (with a door they'd broken) that was set to be shown at 9 am (sequence of 1s followed by the 1 roller winning leadership roll), and then they had a good roll. To put the body in a dusty coffin the back.
So they're inching off the coffin led with a crowbar when I tell them to roll for success.
Now, one player is the daughter of the player who kept rolling 1s.
And the daughter, in the same place, goes: "shit. she's giggling. This can't be good"
Her mother had rolled another 1. THE COFFIN LED FELL AND SMASHED APART. A GUARD DOG COULD BE HEARD. THE GUARD COULD BE HEARD. THEY COULD SEE A FLASHLIGHT.
And I wrote:
"Time for me to go to dad's birthday! See you next week!"
I love 1s.
