So there's this church I pass on my way to my sister's/home from work and it has a sign out front right now that says:

Winter Is Coming
So Is The Lord
Are You Prepared?


Which I admit makes me feel less filled with love for the almighty and more concerned I should get a shotgun, what with Halloween coming up.

It doesn't beat this sign that some people put up in one of the synagogues here in Israel:

I thought that was a George R.R. Martin reference.
I'm not sure that most church signs are a good idea. One I saw said "Nursing homes are waiting rooms for the Lord." My family was on their way to visit my grandma, so that was fun.

I have also seen that same church say 'True Marriage is between a Man and a Woman', 'Vote against the Casino' and 'Spanish Rally 6:30 Thursday at the Royal Oak' They've done some cute things too if I remember correctly, like something about making a pun about both Computers and God saving. I wish I could remember it, but all I remember is that he made a smiley with a colon and a close bracket.

Years ago, when I was working in Georgia all the time, there was this church in this tiny town that kept putting up political signs. Then one day I saw:

SATAN RULES (X) ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Turns out it was a protest about teaching evolution, and two teachers got picked up by the cops a few nights later, for getting caught changing it to SANTA.

This would be the same church where the wonderful [info]tieleen stalked by broad daylight to change "Homosexuality is a sin, Put it from you" to "Hate is a sin" - TWICE - resulting in my large collection of plastic letters, Shai writing a Jubilee and Bobby fic that was basically my post with the names changed, and my firm and persistent belief that Church Sign Vandals would be an excellent name for a band.
